You know this is going to be hit. It’s a Toyota, it carries the Corolla name, and best of all, it’s a crossover SUV.
The 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross heads into CarProUSA dealerships this October. Toyota's newest vehicle, based on the Corolla, is available as either front-wheel- or all-wheel drive. The FWD model starts from $22,195, and you can upgrade to available all-wheel drive for an extra $1,300. Toyota calls the Corolla Cross "value-priced" with features you don't typically find in a small crossover.
“For over 50 years, Corolla has been synonymous with dependability, fuel efficiency, safety and value,” said Lisa Materazzo, group vice president of Toyota Marketing. “With the all-new Corolla Cross, we are building upon that foundation and offering even more versatility and creature comforts to make everything from a daily commute to a weekend escape more memorable.”
2022 Corolla Cross
The Corolla Cross is offered in three trims: L, LE and top-of-the-line XLE. Key design cues include a distinctive black grille flanked by LED lighting with black body accents. In the back you find an integrated rear spoiler and LED lighting. Wheel options range from 17-inch steel on L to 18-inch alloy on XLE. It's offered in seven exterior color options: Wind Chill Pearl ($425 extra-color cost), Celestite, Sonic Silver, Jet Black, Barcelona Red Metallic, Cypress and Blue Crush Metallic.
Inside, the cabin offers a higher line of sight view thanks to the revised TNGA-C platform. It can be outfitted with a power moonroof, as well as either single- or dual-zone automatic climate control, with all grades featuring standard heating and air conditioning vents for rear seat passengers. The XLE model is equipped with a standard 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar and heated front seats. The XLE also has an available 7-inch Multi-Information Display.
For interior color options, the 2022 Corolla Cross is offered in either fabric-trimmed of SofTex-trimmed seats. The L offers fabric-trimmed seats in Light Gray. LE is equipped with fabric-trimmed seats in Light Gray or Black and the XLE features SofTex®-trimmed seats in Macadamia/Mocha or Black.
A 60/40-split folding rear seat is standard on all grades, while XLE models also include a center armrest with two additional cupholders. A power liftgate with height adjustability is available. Other available options accessories include a roof rack with crossbars, an activity mount for carrying items such as bicycles, a tow hitch and all-weather floormats.
Powertrain
A four-cylinder, 2.0-liter engine delivers169-horsepower. Toyota says its CVT has a physical first gear that provides for an engaging driving experience with exceptional efficiency. All-wheel drive models feature a fully independent suspension. Front-wheel-drive vehicles feature a brand-new torsion beam system in the rear. For those who choose AWD, Toyota’s Dynamic Torque Control system directs up to 50% of power to the rear wheels when it’s needed – and disengages completely when it’s not. Every Corolla Cross can tow up to 1,500 lbs.
The Corolla Cross delivers an estimated 32 combined MPG for the FWD model and an estimated 30 combined MPG for the AWD model.
