The countdown is on for the 2022 World Car of the Year Awards! This week, the finalists for World Car Of The Year and other five title categories were announced. You'll find a lot of all-electric vehicles on the list. In fact, all three finalists for the main award, World Car of the Year, are EVs: the Ford Mustang Mach-E, Kia EV6 and IONIQ 5. One of those will be named the World Car of the Year at the the New York International Auto Show on April 13th.
There are six categories in the World Car Finals powered by Brembo. A jury of 102 distinguished international automotive journalists from 33 countries selected the finalists by secret ballot based on their evaluation of each eligible vehicle as part of their professional work. The vote results have been tabulated by KPMG.

This is the 18th year of the World Car Awards, and 2022 marks the 17th year of its partnership with the New York International Auto Show.

The road to the World Car 2022 began in August of 2021. Eligible vehicles are new or fully redesigned and are available for sale in multiple markets on more than one continent each year Full vehicle eligibility requirements and the annual timeline can be found on the World Car Awards web site.
