Toyota's new 2024 Grand Highlander has made a lot of headlines since its recent debut. But Toyota doesn't want us to forget about the standard Highlander model. (Both have 3 rows, but the Grand Highlander's is roomier and thus more suited for adults. )
The automaker says the Highlander is currently the No. 1 retail midsize SUV for a 7th year in a row. Here's a look at some of the Highlander Hybrid's attributes as highlighted by Toyota.

1. It's Fuel Efficient.
The Toyota Highlander Hybrid is certainly fuel efficient, delivering an EPA-estimated up to 36 mpg city / 35 mpg highway / 36 combined ratings. With all-wheel drive it drops to 35 mpg across the board. Check other fueleconomy.gov estimates here.
2. It's Roomy.
The 2023 Highlander Hybrid's battery pack is installed under the second-row seats - which means it doesn’t take away any passenger or cargo space. You'll find 84.3/48.4/16.0 cubic feet of cargo volume behind the front-, second- and third-row seats, respectively.
3. It Offers Electronic On-Demand AWD
Toyota says the unique, available Electronic On-Demand AWD uses a dedicated electric drive motor to automatically supply power to the rear wheels for instant traction when needed so the driver can focus on the road during inclement weather or unexpected driving conditions.
4. It Helps You Power Up
The 2023 Highlander Hybrid includes two 120V outlets — powered by the 1500W inverter. One is located at the bottom rear of the center console and one in the luggage area. Two inverters are unique to the hybrid and are standard in the Bronze Edition and Limited and Platinum grades.
5. It Gets You On The Road In Style
The Bronze Edition is back for 2023 after launching in 2022. The special edition - exclusive to the Highlander Hybrid - gets you there in style with 18-inch bronze-finished wheels, mid-century-inspired embossed fabric seat inserts and bronze-colored stitching throughout the cabin. It's available in edition-exclusive Cement, Wind Chill Pearl or Midnight Black Metallic exterior colors. For 2023, the Bronze Edition adds a standard 12.3-inch audio multimedia touchscreen.
