April was a rough one for the automakers, as the microchip shortage continues to have a death grip on automotive manufacturing. Of all the car companies that still report on a monthly basis, only Genesis showed an increase, but that is more due to a lack of Genesis sales in April 2021.
April of 2022 was off a little more than 21% from April of 2021. Honda was off the most, down 41%. Mazda was off the least, down just 3.3%.
I also give you below the incentive spending by automaker, which is down substantially from April of 2021. The average incentive spending per car for last month averaged $1,466 per vehicle. That’s down 55% in just a year or $1,472 per vehicle less. Hyundai and Kia spent the least per vehicle, Stellantis spent the most.
