"If you’ve never visited the Bring A Trailer website, take a look," said Car Pro Show host Jerry Reynolds. "It has grown in popularity over the past few years, I go there myself pretty often. They just announced sales for their online site for 2024."
Bring a Trailer (BaT) is celebrating its most successful year to date in 2024. The automotive auction platform and enthusiast community says it set a record with $1.5 billion in sales. The company says it marks the third consecutive year the platform surpassed $1 billion in annual sales. BaT also says it saw its highest volume of listings, with nearly 45,000 auctions split between cars, trucks, motorcycles, memorabilia, and parts.
“BaT continued evolving as a business in 2024 – both as an organization and as a leader in the market,” said Randy Nonnenberg, co-founder and president of Bring a Trailer. “This marked another banner year as we continued to grow while maintaining our overarching goals of bringing transparent auctions to enthusiasts and giving our community the opportunity to interact with special cars, their owners and subject matter experts.”
Last year, BoT reports a trend towards more recent classics, as more millennial and Gen Z buyers enter the market. Vehicles from the 2000s led auction listings for the second consecutive year.
During 2024, BaT says it averaged well over 800 auction listings per week, with highs of over 1,000 on multiple occasions. BaT says its enthusiast community continued to grow as well, gained 219,000 new registered users and bidders for a total of 1.36 million.
To support this growth, BoT says it increased staffing and improved internal systems, enabling auctions to go live more quickly.
“In 2021 and 2022, it could take over a month to get your car on BaT,” said Nonnenberg. “Now, a well-prepared seller can have their car online in just a few days in many cases. It's a rapid process to get your car on BaT in 2025.”
BoT says its most popular auctions last year demonstrate the broad interests of the collector/enthusiast community.
As for the Top 5 sales by price - Hypercars performed strongly with the top two sales of the year claimed by Bugatti’s Chiron. The 2022 Chiron Pur Sport ultimately became the second-highest-priced sale ever on BaT. A 2022 Lamborghini Countach took the third spot, with pre- and post-war models from Mercedes-Benz rounding out the top five.
