Fiat Chrysler is recalling an estimated 159,740 pickups in the U.S. over a fastener issue that could cause a power steering loss. The recall involves certain 2019 model year Ram 1500s. Nearly one-third of the recalled vehicles are still in dealer hands. An FCA US investigation discovered certain vehicles built before Oct. 25, 2018, may have a battery ground-circuit fastener that was not secured properly. Accordingly, the connection may become loose enough to intermittently create an open circuit. If that happens, the vehicle would retain steering capability. However, Fiat Chrysler says it could lead to inconsistent steering feedback, which may contribute to oversteer or understeer, increasing the risk of crash. Fiat Chrysler says its unaware of any related injuries or accidents related to the issue. Customers with questions or concerns may call 1-800-853-1403. |
