February is never a good month in the auto industry. It is a short month and weather can be a real problem in many parts of the country. Of course, we have that little issue of microchip shortages.
No surprise that sales were down a little over 11% from last February to this one. Remember, we don’t hear from all automakers except once a quarter, but it’s a decent indicator of the industry.
Hyundai, Kia, Genesis and Mazda all advance in February 2022, but those automakers were the exception to the rule.
Here are your sales leaders from February 2022, from the automaker that report. We’ll have a much better feel a month from now after the first quarter ends when all automakers report.
