The first-ever 2025 Toyota Signia Crown SUV is expected to head into dealerships late this summer. It's based on the Crown sedan - a nameplate that recently made its return to the U.S. after a 51-year hiatus. (You can check out CarPro Show host Jerry Reynolds' review of the 2024 Crown sedan here.)

Ahead of the crossover variant's arrival, Toyota is highlighting five things about the Signia - a name that's based on the term "insignia", which Toyota calls a badge of honor signifying its affiliation to the nameplate that started it all.
1. First Time’s a Charm
The Crown Signia is the second vehicle in the U.S. Toyota Crown lineup, and the nameplate’s first foray into the SUV category. Toyota says the addition adds a new dimension to the Crown’s rich legacy and exemplifies its reputation for quality and sophistication — with more room to boot.
Toyota says the Signia's ample space elevated the day for drivers with busy, active lifestyles. Its roominess means no more cramming bulky bags or sporting equipment into back seats — which means customers can haul with ease..
2. Top Speed, Fewer Pit Stops
The new Crown Signia is equipped with the Toyota hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) powertrain. It pairs a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine with two electric motor generators. The powertrain delivers 243-horsepower. (For reference the Crown sedan's hybrid powertrain makes 340-horses.)
3. A Perfect Balance
The new Crown Signia is modeled after the Crown sedan which sits on Toyota's New Global Architecture K (TNGA-K) platform. Toyota says it results in a quieter, smoother ride. The automaker says the platform also significantly reduces noise levels in the cabin by curbing vibration through the steering, floor and body structure. Toyota describes the Signia's driving characteristics as blending the comfort and handling of a sedan with the heightened sense of control, optimal performance, and ample space that SUVs bring.
What’s more, Toyota says its roofline and sleek cabin appeal give it a dramatic shape that’s stylish and practical. Features include a fold-flat second row with a long cargo area, which Toyota says it ideal for hauling. The SUV can seat up to five and can tow up to 2,700 pounds so owners can haul bikes, trailers and sporting equipment.
4. A Nice Package
When it comes to style, Toyota describes the Crown Signia as in a class all its own- both effortless and elegant. The automaker credits its striking exterior to a combination of factors including its wide stance, available 21-inc wheels, sleek daytime running lights and bold, geometric grille.

Toyota describes the interior as equally stylish with soft and comfortable seating. The cabin features standard textured leather-trimmed seating with double-stitching. The front row gets standard heated and ventilated front seats. There are standard heated outboard seats for the second row as well.
All grades feature standard bronze-finished trim and color-matched, soft touch panels on the doors and dashboard.
5. Outstanding Tech Support
Standard tech includes a 12.3-inch color Multi Information Display (MID) with standard Wireless Bluetooth connectivity. The MID is customizable too. For example Toyota says eco-conscious driver can turn on the eco-mode to help monitor and maximize their gas mileage. The driver display is also easy to read with large, colorful digital dials.
Toyota says the Signia offers handy, tech-driven amenities designed to enhance the journey as well as to make driving as hassle- and stress-free as possible. Drivers will need an active Drive Connect trial or subscription to take advantage of Intelligent Assistant, Cloud Navigation, and Destination Assist. Destination Assist allows simple phrases like “Hey Toyota” to awaken the system for voice-activated commands. Drive Connect is 4G network dependent and a 1-year trial is included on all grades.
