Ford Introduces The All-New 2025 Expedition

Written By: CarPro | Oct 8, 2024 5:20:28 PM

Hello, all-new 2025 Ford Expedition!  Ford recently unveiled the redesigned, fifth-generation SUV at the State Fair of Texas. It was an introduction that was not without fanfare as the big reveal included a huge drone show that lit up the North Texas sky.

"It came as no surprise Ford chose the State Fair of Texas as the venue to recently introduce the new Expedition,"  said Jerry Reynolds, Host of the Car Pro Show. "We all know things are bigger in Texas, and big SUVs are a way of life here. "

Ford really did its homework when re-imagining the three-row SUV, designed to appeal to active families. The result of its research is a new, modern cabin experience, more storage space, big tech updates and other new cool features.

“For Expedition customers, family is at the center of everything they do,” said Trevor Scott, general manager of Ford Utilities.  “We spent more than 1,100 hours talking with customers about their everyday lives. And with those insights we’ve rethought and redesigned Expedition to help customers make the most of their precious time with family and to make life easier – before, during and after every trip they make.”

Ford says its Expedition team found new ways to make traveling and gathering a uniquely Expedition experience. Features include a largest-in-class 24-inch panoramic display, an available sliding front center console and an available class-exclusive 40/20/40 folding third-row bench seat.

2025 Ford Expedition Highlights

There is certainly a lot to talk about in regards the next-gen Expedition, and here we share a few highlights:

First-Ever Expedition Tremor

The first-ever Expedition Tremor joins the lineup.  With its 10.6-inches of ground clearance, it's the most off-road capable Expedition ever and is equipped with underbody shielding, 33-inch General Grabber all-terrain tires, an electronic locking rear-differential and advanced off-road technology.

“TREMOR is the pinnacle of Expedition adventure-ready capability,” said Adrian Aguirre, Expedition Chief engineer. “Expedition TREMOR delivers off-road capability and hardware shared with F-150 TREMOR combined with Expedition big family and cargo-carrying versatility.”

Other features include Raptor-inspired running boards and front skid plate along with embedded off-road auxiliary lights behind the grille.

New Ford Split Gate

Ford calls cargo management a priority, which is where a cool new Ford Split Gate comes in. It combines a traditional SUV liftgate with the cargo management of a pickup truck tailgate. Three-quarters of the gate raises like a traditional liftgate, while the lower quarter folds down like a truck’s tailgate.

The tailgate can support up to 500 pounds and includes an available seatback from the available Cargo Tailgate Manager. The seatback can also become a serving table, or stadium seating and there are power outlets in the cargo area.

“It was designed to not only get customers to where they need to go, but to be the center of the experience once they arrive,” said Jill Dougherty, Ford Expedition exterior designer. “Our goal was to enable customers to linger longer whether they’re at the stadium or the campsite.”

Here's another cool feature:  if you stand at the back of the vehicle for a few seconds with the key fob in your pocket, the Ford Split Gate will automatically open.

Ford Digital Experience

The Ford Digital Experience comes to life for Expedition owners through beautiful display screens, including a 24-inch panoramic display, which takes the place of a traditional gauge cluster.
