Order books are back open for the all-electric Mustang Mach-E. It's in anticipation of the automaker's plans ramp up production during the second half of year following the completion of plant upgrades. Ford also says scaled-up production will help it reduce customer wait times and reduce prices across the board.
Mach-E Updates
Mach-E updates on the way include increased range and faster charging for the "standard range" models. Upgraded Blue Cruise, Ford's Hands-Free Highway Driving System, is also newly available with the option of a complimentary 90-day trial.
Standard Range Models
Ford says all standard range models will now be powered by lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries. This change allows the eAWD configuration to gain an additional 45 horsepower. Standard range battery models will also increased to a targeted EPA-estimated range of 250 miles for RWD and 226 miles for eAWD.
Standard range models will also get some charging improvements. Ford says they can now charge to 100% more frequently via AC home charging. And on the road they'll get faster DC charging, charging from 10-80 percent battery capacity in 33 minutes - five minutes less than before.
Blue Cruise Upgrades
Blue Cruise, Ford's Hands-Free Driving System, adds some new features. The Blue Cruise 1.2 update includes hands-free lane changes when requested by the driver tapping the turn signal. In-Lane Repositioning ability helps keep the vehicle in its lane while subtly shifting position away from vehicles in adjacent lanes.
Also, BlueCruise will now be available with a complimentary 90-day trial. So customers can try it out before subscribing. The automaker says the highway driving system is now equipped on 199,000 Ford and Lincoln vehicles in North America and that customers have racked up more than 70 million hands-free miles driven with the technology.
New Features
The Mustang Mach-E gets some new standard or optional features, too. The include an optional Comfort Package Lite on Select with heated front seats, heated steering wheel, and memory driver seat and sideview power folding mirrors. Premium models with standard range battery ride on new 19-inch Shadow-Silver painted aluminum wheels with high gloss black-painted aero covers. And you'll now be able to add optional all-season tires to the GT Performance Edition.
