If you're planning to take a road trip, you're likely to search for gas stations along your route with the lowest prices to help keep your costs down. If you're really trying to watch your wallet you could take that a step further and travel to a state with the cheapest gas prices at the pump, where your dollar will take you farther.
That brings us to a list of the cheapest and most expensive states when it comes to gas prices. A June 2021 U.S. Fuel Index report from Driver's Ed website Zutobi.com sheds some light on the subject. Researchers studied state fuel rates to establish where drivers get the best value for gas, and can travel the furthest for the money.
You probably won't be surprised which state is the most expensive, but let's start with the states you'll get the most gas for your dollar. (If you want a daily look at national average gas prices as well as a gas cost calculator, head to AAA.)
