Honda sure knows how to stage an attention-getting photo op! The automaker recently showed off the toughness of the new 2026 Honda Passport TrailSport and TrailSport Elite by dangled not one, two, but three of the unmodified SUVs end-to-end from a 140-foot long crane. And yes, it was all captured on video.
The Passport TrailSport and TrailSport Elite are Honda's first light truck models equipped with exposed and easily accessible heavy-duty front recovery points. The automaker says the two bright orange cast iron front recovery points were intentionally designed as a closed loop recovery system for additional safety and are each capable of supporting twice the Passport's weight. The recovery points are also are powder coated to resist corrosion and engineered to break away in the event of a front collision. This patented design is a world’s first and enables the Passport to target top-of-class safety ratings.

All 2026 Passport TrailSport models also feature a trailer hitch with a 7-pin connector that integrates two stout rear recovery points and helps protect the rear fascia from off-road damage.
The new Passport TrailSport's list of standard features includes off-road tuned suspension, expanded all-wheel drive system capabilities, robust steel skid plates, specially engineered all-terrain tires, strong heavy-duty recovery points, and more.
