Kia's making a name for itself in the electric vehicle world - and Time Magazine is taking note. The magazine recently named Kia to its Top 100 List of Most Influential Companies as an "Innovator". It's the automaker in the U.S. to make the list.
The list highlights companies that are making a big impact around the world. Time is recognizing Kia for being a leader in mobility by popularizing electric vehicles and also for promoting more sustainable production by using recyclable materials and clean energy as a member of Climate Group's RE100.
"At Kia, we believe movement inspires ideas, and we are honored to be included on TIME'S list of the 100 Most Influential Companies of 2023," said SeungKyu (Sean) Yoon, president & CEO, Kia North America and Kia America. "Kia's brand purpose is to provide new products and meaningful services that inspire customers and free up time for the activities that they enjoy the most, and we will continue our efforts to establish an innovative and customer-centric business model."
The Kia EV6 recently won the 2023 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year and 2023 World Performance Car of the Year awards.
The automaker says it plans to have 15 EV models globally by 2027, including its recently introduced EV9 flagship SUV which arrives later this year.
To make the list, a company first had to be nominated. Then Time polled its global network of contributors and correspondents as well as outside experts. Time says its editors then evaluated the each on a number of factors including impact, innovation, ambition, and success.
