Mazda is introducing its new flagship SUV, the first-ever three-row 2024 CX-90, and wow, is it a beauty! Mazda's outdone itself in the color department by developing a gorgeous new deep ruby Artisan Red color for the CX-90. The SUV lineup will offer two powertrains, including a plug-in hybrid, seating for up to eight, new advanced safety tech, and more.

Mazda says it focused on three areas with the CX-90: Performance, Design, and Intuitive Technology.
Performance
The CX-90 is a large SUV with impeccable proportions judging from the photos. It's built on an all-new large vehicle platform that features a front-engine, rear-wheel-bias longitudinal layout. It's also equipped with Kinematic Posture Control, which first debuted on the MX-5 Miata last year. The software feature suppresses body lift on tight corners to enhance the grip and allows all occupants to maintain a natural posture. Mazda says it focused on optimizing rigidity across the entire vehicle body, while designing the seats and suspension to provide better balance, control, and confidence in a range of driving situations. It's also equipped with standard i-Activ all-wheel drive.

Inline 6 Turbo
CX-90 is available with an all-new e-Skyactiv G 3.3L Inline 6 Turbo engine, the most powerful mass production engine ever developed by Mazda. It delivers 340-horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque (when using the recommended premium fuel.) This engine also is equipped with M-Hybrid Boost (a mild-hybrid system) to provide efficiency without compromising on its remarkable performance. The electric motor is placed between the engine and transmission, creating a smooth acceleration from a standstill, and allowing the motor to directly power CX-90 at low speed. Mazda says the powertrain provides the CX-90 with an upscale feeling, smooth-driving experience, engaging sound, and efficiency.
Plug-In Hybrid
The new e-Skyactiv PHEV powertrain, tuned specifically for the North American market, combines Mazda's 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, with an electric motor and 17.8 kWh high-capacity battery. It delivers 323-horsepower and 369 lb.-ft. of torque (premium fuel recommended).
Transmission
All CX-90 powertrains are paired with an all-new, eight-speed automatic transmission, specifically designed for the electrified longitudinal powertrains and large platform vehicles.
Design
Designed for drivers with active lifestyles, the CX-90 can seat up to eight passengers and Mazda says the new platform allows for more cabin and cargo space.

Mazda's latest Takuminuri color, Artisan Red, is an available paint option. Designers say it was developed specifically to suit the CX-90's blend of performance and refinement. The color looks gorgeous with the new available chrome garnishes on the lower bumpers and available 21-inch diamond-cut wheels with a black metallic finish.

Mazda is known for it's very near luxury interiors and the CX-90 raises the bar even further. The cabin features available Nappa leather, wood trim and tone-on-tone fabrics. There are available captain's chairs for the second-row. An open dashboard features unique Japanese-inspired stitching. An extra wide center console, available with genuine wood trim, is home to a short gear shifter. The design of the multi-textured door panels is certainly intriguing.

Other amenities include available third-row USB-C charging ports, air conditioning vents, and upgraded interior lighting, among many more features.
In terms of utility, Mazda says there is additional space under the cargo floor. The CX-90’s cargo floorboard is also designed with a 5° incline, which gives it a nearly flat surface for easy loading and unloading. There is also an available hands-free lift gate.
Technology
CX-90 also features larger displays, accompanied by physical buttons that complement the interior styling.

Mazda says new technologies include an available 360-degree See-Through View monitor which you can view through the available full-color 12.3" center display. A full-color 10.25-inch center screen is standard.
A 12-speaker Bose sound system is available, as is wireless charging.
Mazda also says its largest Active Driving Display above the steering wheel features an increased area and type size.
Safety
CX-90 features an expanded list of standard i-Activsense safety features. They include Smart Brake Support, Blind Spot Monitoring, Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop and Go, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. It also features Rear Seat Alert.
Availability
