Mecum Dallas follows a hugely successful Mecum Monterey 2024 during Monterey Car Week earlier this month. The auction brought in an incredible $54 million in overall sales and featuring nearly a dozen top sellers that broke into the seven-figure range. A 1969 Ford GT40 Lightweight was the auction's the No.1 top-selling vehicle. It hammered it at staggering $7.865 million, becoming the fourth most valuable car sold in Monterey during Car Week.
Eleven vehicles sold for more than $1 million.
There was also an incredible bidder battle for the world’s most valuable 1969 Dodge Hemi Daytona, which ultimately sold for $3.36 million.
The top collector car sales at the Monterey 2024 auction included:
The 2024 Mecum Monterey auction, held at Del Monte Golf Course in Monterey, California, also featured awe-inspiring unveilings of several consignments to be offered at future Mecum auctions, including Steve McQueen’s 1970 Porsche 917K (917-022) from the 1971 film “Le Mans.” It will be auctioned at Kissimmee 2025, The World's Largest Collector Car Auction.
Top sales at the Monterey auction included an exceptional variety of makes and models serving as an excellent reflection of the diversity typically found at Mecum events. Ford, Dodge, Ferrari, Plymouth, Porsche, Packard, Mercedes-Benz and even Chevrolet all found a place among the top-10 selling vehicles, and all of them exceeded the million-dollar mark with the majority falling into the multimillion-dollar territory. Motorcycles lived up to pre-auction expectations as well, with a handful of top offerings achieving strong six-figure sales, including a 1913 Henderson Four at $132,000 and an iconic 1947 Harley-Davidson EL Deluxe Knucklehead that brought $110,000.
