Mazda is introducing another new SUV to its lineup - the two-row 2025 CX-70. It follows in the footsteps of the impressive CX-90, its larger sibling that debuted last year. Both models were designed with electrification in mind and are available as Plug-In Hybrids.
The CX-70 notably introduces some new features to the brand: a remote folding rear seat along with a unique sub-trunk design where you can hide valuables. It's also Mazda's first crossover with available Amazon Alexa.
Powertrains
Mazda says the CX-70, built on Mazda's large SUV platform, was engineered from the start with electrification in mind. All CX-70 powertrains featuring some form of it. Customers can choose from an e-SkyActiv G 3.3L Inline 6 Turbo engine with M-Hybrid Boost, or an e-SkyActiv G PHEV. i-ACTIV all-wheel-drive is standard.
Design
The CX-70 features a sporty look with an aggressive appearance thanks to its wide and low fascia and chiseled front end. You'll find contrasting black accents throughout the exterior, and available black metal and machine cut finished 21-inch wheels. The wide and open interior features high quality materials and finishes such as contrast gray metallic inlays. Available red Nappa leather is coupled with red stitch detailing throughout the cabin and is inspired by the sporty 100th Anniversary Special Edition MX-5.
Safety
Several new assistance technologies include an addition to Cruising & Traffic Support, called Unresponsive Driver Support, that adds an emergency-only system to automatically decelerate and stop the vehicle if the system detects the driver is unresponsive to escalating alerts. There is also the integration of Alexa, which allows the driver to make hands-free commands for prompts like changing the temperature, or radio station, to controlling their smart home devices. CX-70 is the first Mazda crossover to feature Alexa.
Availability
The CX-70 will be available this spring.
