Photo Credit: CBS 11 On last Saturdays Dallas-Fort Worth Car Pro Show, I asked a dear friend, Doug Dunbar, to come on the air with us. Doug is the 5, 6, and 10 PM anchor at CBS 11 TV in our market. I had seen his broadcast the previous Wednesday about the Coronavirus and I thought it was an excellent message about looking back and also looking forward. Here is the audio of Doug when he was on the show with us: Here is the audio and video of the CBS 11 broadcast, I think youll enjoy it: After posting this on my Facebook page, I had many requests for the written words and Doug was happy to supply them. Thanks, Doug, for your insights, for being a friend of the show, for bringing me the news every day, and for being my friend. BEFORE WE GO TONIGHT, WE THOUGHT WE WOULD TAKE A MOMENT TO REFLECT ON WHERE WE'VE BEEN, TO THINK AHEAD TO WHERE WE MIGHT BE. HOW ALL THAT WE'VE LEARNED IN THE LAST 3 MONTHS, MAY ONLY BE PREPARING FOR WHAT COULD BE AHEAD. THE VOLUME OF WHAT WE DON'T KNOW, IS ONLY OVERSHADOWED, BUT WHAT WE DO KNOW, AND ARE LEARNING. ABOUT OURSELVES. THERE ARE FEW WORDS THAT CAN FILL THE VOID OF AN EMPTY SCHOOL. FEW WORDS THAT CAN EXPLAIN TO A CHILD, WHY THEY NOW SIT IN A LINE OF CARS, JUST TO GET FOOD. EVEN FEWER WORDS FOR THOSE WHO HAVE LOST IT ALL. JOBS. BUSINESSES. AND ON OUR WORST DAYS, LIVES. THE PAINFULLY DEEP SPIRAL DOWN THE STAIRCASE OF COVID 19, ALL BUT ASSURES THE CLIMB BACK UP WILL BE LONG, AND HARD, AND NOTHING IS GUARANTEED. LIFE AS WE KNEW IT, IS STILL CHANGING. WILL OUR FAVORITE PLACES TO GATHER STILL BE THERE. WILL WE FINALLY BE ABLE TO JUST GO OUR FOR A MEAL, AND NOT WORRY. HOW LONG CAN WE NOT GATHER, AT FAMILY GATHERINGS. WILL THAT RED DIRT AND GREEN GRASS COME ALIVE FOR OUR KIDS' SUMMER BASEBALL AND SOCCER? WILL SUMMER CAMP, BECOME SUMMER BUST. WILL THE RANGERS FINALLY GET TO LET US IN, TO JUST CHEER ON THE TEAM. WILL WE GET TO SIT IN THE STANDS AND GET LOST IN THE HOPES OF ANOTHER DALLAS COWBOYS SEASON. WILL WE GATHER TO MOURN ON MEMORIAL DAY, FOR WHAT LIFE HAS BECOME, IN ADDITION TO OUR FALLEN HEROES. WILL CELEBRATING OUR INDEPENDENCE, FORCE US TO BE DEPENDENT, ON STAYING APART. FOR EVERYTHING WE DON'T KNOW, LEAN INTO THE ONE THING WE DO KNOW HERE IN N. TEXAS. WE HAVE EACH OTHER'S BACKS. OUR FRONTLINE WORKERS WILL NEVER QUIT. WHERE THERE IS A GREAT NEED, WE WILL RALLY AN EVEN GREATER RESPONSE. WE KNOW THIS, BECAUSE IT'S ALREADY HAPPENING. WHEN A NEIGHBOR NEEDS HELP, NORTH TEXANS LINE UP. WHEN OUR KIDS NEED TO BE TAUGHT, TEACHERS AND SCHOOLS STEP UP. WHEN THE SMALL BUSINESS OWNER CAN ONLY DO TAKE OUT, WE SHOW UP. IN A TIME WE'VE NEVER FELT FARTHER APART, WE'VE PERHAPS NEVER FELT CLOSER TOGETHER. THE FUTURE IS UNCERTAIN. BUT OUR RESPONSE TO WHATEVER IT HOLDS, COULD NOT BE CLEARER. |
