November 2024 National Auto Sales Report

Written By: Jerry Reynolds | Dec 4, 2024 5:33:13 PM

November sales brought the good news the auto industry has been clamoring for: a nice year-end Christmas present of brisk sales.  Hybrids and pickups led the way for some really nice sales increases this November versus November of 2023.  As usual, not every automaker reports monthly, but there are enough to get the pulse of the market.  Car Pro Certified Dealers reported to me good traffic all month, including Black Friday and the last weekend of the month.  They also reported an immediate boost following the Presidential election.

Ford reported an 18% increase in sales of hybrids, and a huge 27% increase in its bread-and-butter F-Series truck sales.  Down the hall at Lincoln Division, they saw another huge increase in sales of almost 50%.

Toyota reversed a two month trend of downward sales as inventories increased, especially in hybrids, and they benefitted by Grand Highlanders arriving after months of no deliveries due  to an airbag issue.  Lexus sales were up as well, a little more than 9%.  Combined, Toyota and Lexus teamed up to sell just shy of 100,000 gasoline hybrids.

Of the automakers that reported sales, the increase was a strong 5.5% and based on talking to our dealers, if the other car companies had reported, sales would have been higher overall.  General Motors dealers seemed to be super busy all month, Stellantis got back in the incentives game and dealers got much busier, Honda sales were brisk, and Hyundai, Kia, and Subaru continued to be on a roll, as did Mazda.  In fact, in a rarity, not a single reporting automaker was down in sales.

We will be able to see all numbers for every automaker’s sales for December and the full year the first week of January 2025.
