As I told you in the August sales report this week, hybrids are all the rage, and although Honda was late to the party, hybrids have been hot-sellers for them so far in 2024.  Now coming to a CarPro Honda dealer near you is the 2025 Honda Civic Hatchback, and you guessed it, there is a hybrid version available now, and in fact, 40% of Civics will be hybrids. - Car Pro Show host Jerry Reynolds

The new 2025 Honda Civic Hatchback is hitting the road - and for the first time in the U.S., it's available as a hybrid!  The Civic Hatchback hybrid began arriving at dealerships this week, joining the recently introduced new 2025 Civic sedan and Civic Si.

The entire 2025 Civic lineup gains sportier styling, better fuel economy and new tech. The biggest news is that a hybrid powertrain returns for 2025 after a roughly decade absence.  This also marks the first time it's been available for both the Sedan and the Hatchback here in the states.

Honda says the Civic Hatchback hybrid boasts 232 lb.-ft of torque and is the most powerful non-Type R Civic ever.

The 2025 Civic Hatchback is available in three trim levels, starting with Sport and topped by the hybrid-electric Sport Hybrid and Sport Touring Hybrid. Prices are below:

Like the Honda Accord and CR-V, the Civic's top trims get the hybrid powertrain. In the Civic Hatchback lineup those trims are the Civic Sport hybrid and Civic Sport Touring hybrid.  With 232 lb.-ft of torque, they offer quicker acceleration than the outgoing 1.5L turbo-powered Civic while receiving substantially higher EPA fuel economy ratings of 50 mpg city and 48 mpg combined. Honda says Linear Shift Control elevates the driving experience by mimicking the vehicle speed-linked rev feel typically associated with a conventional drivetrain shifting gears under acceleration.

Ride and Handling

Honda also says it's optimized the ride and handling of all Civic hybrid models have with unique spring and damper tuning, as well as a specially-developed tire. Hybrid trims also enjoy the lowest NVH levels in the Civic lineup, with a robust noise reduction package that includes Active Noise Control (all hybrids) and wheel resonators (Sport Touring).

Exterior and Interior Updates

Every 2025 Honda Civic Sedan and Hatchback receives new more aggressive front end looks inspired by the look of the turbocharged Civic Type R. The new hybrid-powered trims feature a distinct body colored headlamp garnish and front lower spoiler. The 2025 Civic Hatchback is available in three new colors:   Solar Silver Metallic, Urban Gray Pearl, and Sand Dune Pearl which is exclusive to Civic Hatchback.

All hybrid models are now available with a gray interior color. All Civic models now come standard with front USB-C ports.

Best-Selling Sport Trim

The best-selling Sport trim is now available with either a new, more refined, and fuel-efficient 2.0-liter engine, or the more powerful 200 hp hybrid-electric powertrain. With the new Atkinson cycle 4-cylinder engine and retuned continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), the combined EPA fuel economy rating increases to 34 mpg (+2) for the popular Sport trim.

All Sport trims continue to feature dark trim and black 18-inch alloy wheels, while the Sport Hybrid also comes standard with a moonroof, heated front seats and dual zone climate controls.

Sport Touring Trim

The top-of-the-line Sport Touring Hybrid is the first Civic with Google built-in. This includes apps like Google Assistant, Google Maps and more on Google Play, with a complimentary 3-year unlimited data plan.

The Sport Touring Hybrid rides on exclusive new machine-finished wheels, and features leather seating, a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system and intuitive technology, including a larger 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and a wireless smartphone charger.

Safety

The Honda SensingĀ® suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies is standard on all Civic models. Enhanced safety performance for 2025 includes increased system visibility for motorcycles and bicycles for the Collision Mitigation Braking System with Pedestrian Detection.  Honda also says the driver and passenger front airbags in Civic were designed to minimize the potential for severe brain trauma associated with angled frontal collisions.

Civic Hatchback is produced at the Honda auto plant in Greensburg, Indiana, while Civic Sedan is built at Honda of Canada Mfg. in Alliston, Ontario, Canada.
