The new all-new 2024 Lexus GX isn't the only talk of the town recently. So, too, is the first-ever Lexus TX - Lexus' new three-row SUV. It's the automaker's largest-ever SUV with a third-row seat designed for adults. It's also Lexus' first vehicle to be assembled at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Indiana. There are four trims: Standard, Premium, Luxury and F SPORT Performance.
Powertrain
The TX adopts Lexus' GA-K platform, which offers a low center of gravity and optimal weight distribution. Lexus says the TX has been specifically tuned to provide a "smooth, yet exhilarating drive".
Highlights when it comes to the powertrain include:
- An available Lexus-first V6 Plug-In Hybrid powertrain (TX 550h+ DIRECT4 AWD only) Lexus-estimated EV range is 33 miles. It's the first Lexus PHEV assembled in North America. Late availability.
- An exclusive high-performance F Sport Performance 2.4L turbocharged hybrid on the TX 500h F Sport Performance (DIRECT4 AWD only). The system was introduced on the 2023 RX.
- The TX 350 offers a 2.4L turbocharged inline-4 engine.
Design
Lexus says designers focused on aerodynamic performance. To that end the TX debuts a new Lexus Unified Spindle design, which incorporates Lexus early design language. The headlights are linked by a narrow aperture that runs beneath the leading edge of the hood, under which a low-set grille forms a seamless spindle shape. Lexus says the sleek front-end was designed to enhance aerodynamic handling and provides both a sense of mass and cooling performance. Lexus says it also prioritizes vehicle stability.
In the back, the TX features a slim signature L-shaped light bar lamp.
The lineup offers 7 exterior color options depending on grade: Cloudburst Gray, Wind Chill Pearl, Caviar, Matador Red Mica, Nightfall Mica, Incognito and Celestial Silver Metallic.
Wheels
There are two wheel sizes: 20 -inch wheels are standard for the Premium and Luxury grades. 22-inch wheels are available for the TX 350 Luxury grade and come standard on the 550h+. The 500h F SPORT Performance rides on standard 22-inch wheels with an exclusive design.
Interior
The roomy TX interior will be offered in three color options depending on the grade: Peppercorn, Birch and Black.

The TX seats up to seven with room for adults in the third row. The second row comes as either a 60/40 split bench row or captain's chairs. Lexus says you access to the third row is made easier with a slide assist walk-in mechanism that you operate . with a switch located on the seat shoulder.

Doors panels get digital latches. Available features include multi-colored illumination accents and door trim options.
There's plenty of cargo space with 201 cubic-feet of space behind the third-row. Lexus says you can fit seven carryon suitcases back there. With the third-row seats folded down, cargo capacity increases to 57.4 cubic feet. When both the second and third row are folded down, it increases to 97 cubic feet.
Technology
The TX will be decked out with technology and that includes a standard 14-inch multimedia touchscreen. The system has standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
There's also an available 12.3-inch driver information display and and an available head-up display.

A 21-speaker Mark Levinson Premium Sound System is available on all powertrains.
There are seven charging/communication ports and three power outlets in the cabin.
Safety
The TX is equipped with Lexus' Safety System+ 3.0. This means it comes with features such as Pre-Collision System (PCS) with Pedestrian Detection, All-speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA w/SA), Road Sign Assist (RSA) and Proactive Driving Assist (PDA).
Advanced Park technology is available too. In addition, with an active Drive Connect trial or subscription, available Traffic Jam Assist is designed to monitor surrounding traffic in condensed, low-speed driving situations on limited access roadways and automatically move forward and brake as needed to keep a set following distance behind the preceding vehicle.

Availability
The 2024 TX 350 and 500h are expected to go on sale this fall. The 2024 TX 550h+ is expected to go on sale at a later date.
