In May, Toyota took the long-awaited wraps off the all-new 2024 Toyota Tacoma. The midsize pickup's redesign follows that of the Toyota Tundra and the Toyota Sequoia SUV.
Toyota says its team faced quite a few monumental and unique challenges in bringing the fourth-generation Tacoma to the road. Toyota says development was just ramping up in March 2020 - right when the world was shutting down due to the pandemic.

Another challenge: the new Tacoma is also the largest prototype build ever taken on by Toyota Motor North America Research and Development (TMNA R&D). TMNA built 401 prototypes for testing, the most units ever for a TMNA R&D prototype build. They were built at TMNA R&D headquarters over the course of four months in late 2022 and early 2023.
Given everything faced by the TMNA R&D team, it took more than four years to develop the next-gen Tacoma, and from what we've seen so far, it was worth the wait. The redesigned pickup truck has a lot of cool available features that include an a removable JBL speaker and a first-of-its-kind IsoDynamic Performance seat standard on Tacoma TRD Pro.
