The Car Pro Show Racks Up More Big Awards

Written by Jerry Reynolds | Oct 2, 2024 10:35:26 PM

We are always extremely proud when we win awards for the work we do on the Car Pro Show. It is humbling and makes all the hard work seem well worth it.  Annually, The Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) of which Amy Plemons and I are both members, gives awards for the Excellence In Craft Competition.  Automotive journalists submit their works and independent judges-not affiliated with TAWA-choose first, second, and third place in each of six categories.  The categories are:

  • Writing
  • Radio & Podcast
  • Video
  • Photography
  • Social Media
  • TAWA Event Coverage

Submission deadline was July 15th, 2024, and the winners were announced at the Texas Truck Rodeo held last Thursday and Friday. TAWA describes the competition as:  WE ACKNOWLEDGE THE OUTSTANDING WORK OF OUR MEMBERS WITH AN ANNUAL COMPETITION DESIGNED TO RECOGNIZE TAWA MEMBERS' EXCELLENCE IN AUTOMOBILE JOURNALISM.

This year, when all the entries were in, I am proud to say that the Car Pro Show took first place for the Radio/Podcast category.  If my count is correct, this is the 5th time the show has taken first place in this category, along with numerous 2nd and 3rd place victories through the years. I have to thank my Trusty Sidekick, Kevin McCarthy, he was with me for the entire time and part of each interview entry.

In the judges’ comments on why the Car Pro Show was chosen for first place, he or she said:

“Jerry consistently delivers knowledge and insight and delights us once again this year.”

The submission that won the radio category was titled:  Why Americans are NOT buying electric vehicles.  This was an interview I did with our Car Pro Show affiliate news/radio 1080 KRLD in Dallas-Fort Worth.  You can listen to the audio here →

Amy Plemons Wins Two Awards

Our Executive Producer and car reviewer Amy Plemons walked away this year with two big awards!

Amy walked away with a 2nd place finish for her excellent coverage of the Texas Auto Roundup, held in April of this year.  TAWA says of the roundup that it:

SHOWCASES THE LATEST CARS FROM COMPACT TO PERFORMANCE, ACTIVITY VEHICLES, HYBRID AND ELECTRIC VEHICLES.

Amy also won a 3rd place finish for car reviews!  The review that won the award was for the 2024 Acura MDX Type S that she spent a week with in January of this year.  If you missed her review of this spectacular and beautiful SUV, you can see it here→

We are proud to be members of the Texas Auto Writers Association, an esteemed group of automotive journalists that are held in high regard by the automakers and the public in general.  Taking three awards was a surprise to be honest, but we are proud to have earned and received each one of them.  We’ll continue to try to bring you the best radio show, car reviews, newsletter, and automotive news we possibly can.  We know that without you, the audience and followers, that none of this would be possible.  So, we humbly accept these awards on your behalf and offer a heartfelt thanks to each of you.
