This is one of the most popular segments in the industry, and one of the least affected by the microchip shortage. Sales this year are off less than 7,000 vehicles from a year ago based on sales from the automakers that still report monthly.
In a bit of a surprise, the Ford Explorer outsold the perennial #1 Toyota Highlander. As we know, Toyota is one of the hardest hit car companies by supply-chain shortages.
Ford Edge had the largest increase from April of 2021 and Honda Pilot was off the most. As I said on the air Saturday, Honda has recently been hit really hard by the lack of chips.
