The Toyota RAV4 is on track to retain its best-selling SUV in America title for 2024. The latest sales numbers shared this week by Car Pro Show host Jerry Reynolds show the RAV4 first in SUV sales, and third in overall vehicle sales, through the third quarter of the year.
The 2025 lineup ditches two models: the gas-powered RAV4 Adventure and TRD Off-Road grades. But the Hybrid Woodland Edition, introduced in 2023, keeps its spot in the RAV4 family.
Hybrid, Gas Options
There are gas-only and hybrid models, as well as a Plug-In Hybrid (which is no longer called RAV4 Prime but simply "RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid.")
RAV4 Hybrid models are available in a choice of LE, XLE, XLE Premium, Woodland Edition, SE, XSE, and Limited grades, all equipped with standard all-wheel drive. The powertrain delivers 219-horsepower and up to a manufacturer-estimated 39 MPG combined rating (Hybrid LE AWD grade.)
If you go with a gas-only 203-horsepower 2.5L 4-cylinder model you get four options: LE, XLE, XLE Premium, and Limited and a choice of either Front– or All-Wheel Drive or Torque Vectoring All-Wheel Drive. The engine is paired to a 8-speed Electronically Controlled Automatic Transmission with intelligence (ECT-i). It has a manufacturer estimated 27 mpg city / 35 mpg highway / 30 combined MPG (LE FWD) rating.

The 2025 RAV4 Plug-In hybrid nets the most horsepower with 302. Toyota estimates its fuel economy as 38 combined MPG. It's available in either SE or XSE grades with Electronic All Wheel Drive Standard.
Technology and Safety
The entire 2025 RAV4 lineup is equipped with Toyota's latest Audio Multimedia system. None of the lineup has Toyota's latest safety system, however, which is Toyota Safety Sense 3.0. For gas and hybrid models Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard. The Plug-In model is equipped with TSS 2.5+.
