I am trying to gauge our listener's sentiment on the UAW strike. As I said several times last week on the air, I am not anti-union. I grew up in a union household my entire life, but I want to know your feelings. The two sides are very far apart, and this is likely to be a prolonged strike.
The UAW feels that given the profits of the Detroit 3 the last couple of years they are demanding a 46% pay increase and want to go from a five-day work week to a four-day work week. The automakers say they cannot ensure the future of the car companies paying those kinds of wages and have countered at about a 20% increase and some other benefits. The automobile business is super competitive and the other car companies are not union, like Toyota, Honda, Nissan, and all the others including Tesla.
So, if you had to pick a side in this battle, which one would it be?
