Summary
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2003 Dodge Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks manufactured August 29, 2002, to July 25, 2003 to address a safety defect in the passenger side frontal air bag inflator which may produce excessive internal pressure causing the inflator to rupture upon deployment of the air bag. This recall addresses both the passenger side frontal air bags that were originally installed in the vehicles, as well as replacement air bags that may have been installed as replacement service parts. A replacement air bag may have been installed, as one example, if a vehicle had been in a crash necessitating the replacement of the passenger side frontal air bag.
Remedy
Owners are advised not to drive their vehicles until the remedy is completed. Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger frontal air bag, free of charge. The recall began on March 16, 2016. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is R26. Note: This recall partially supersedes recall 14V770.

Toyota is conducting a safety recall in the U.S. involving certain 2021-2022 model year Toyota RAV4 Prime and certain 2022 model year Lexus NX450h+ vehicles. Approximately 43,000 vehicles in the U.S. are involved in this recall.
A component that converts electricity voltage could be damaged in manufacturing and experience a short circuit, generating excessive heat. Under certain conditions, this short circuit can generate enough heat to increase the risk of a vehicle fire.
For all applicable vehicles, Toyota and Lexus dealers will replace the DC-DC converter with an improved part at no cost to customers. Toyota will notify affected owners about this issue by early September 2023.
Also this week, Toyota is conducting a non-compliance safety recall in the U.S. involving certain 2023 model year Toyota Corolla, Corolla Cross, Corolla Cross hybrid, Highlander, Highlander hybrid, Tacoma, as well as Lexus RX and RX hybrid and 2024 model year NX and NX hybrid vehicles. Approximately 110,000 vehicles in the U.S. are involved in this recall.
In the affected vehicles, the spiral cable assembly in the steering column may lose its electrical connection on the circuit controlling the driver’s airbag. If this occurs, the airbag warning light will illuminate, and the driver’s airbag may not deploy in a crash. As a result, the vehicle will not comply with certain federal motor vehicle safety requirements and may increase the risk of injury to the driver in the event of a crash.
For all involved vehicles, Toyota and Lexus dealers will inspect the serial number of the spiral cable and, if necessary, replace it with a new cable at no cost to customers. Toyota will notify affected owners about this issue by early September 2023.
