Year-In-Review: Top Car Reviews For 2022

Written By: Jerry Reynolds | Dec 21, 2022 10:05:18 AM

Each year at this time, I put out a list of the vehicles I reviewed that were the most enjoyable to me or left an impression on me.  I take into consideration all the things I talk about on the radio show:  Value, driving impressions, and overall appeal of the vehicle.

Even with the Microchip shortage, I was fortunate to have something new to review every week, sometimes two vehicles, and many reviewers across the country were shut out.

I lost three weeks of reviews due to having Covid, I just didn’t want to risk the crew, or the people who deliver the cars to me.

Still, even with everything going on, I feel like I had a successful year of car reviews, and I will give you the highlights.

Ford/Lincoln

Ford supplied me with the amazing F-150 Lightning all-electric truck and make no mistake, it was awesome.  I had the Ford Bronco Raptor, which was great, and I also had the Lincoln Navigator, which I always enjoy.

GM

General Motors sent me the new Cadillac Escalade V, which was nothing short of amazing, and I had the XT6 3-row SUV which I enjoyed a lot.  I also had the beautiful GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate, which was stunning.

Luxury SUVs

In luxury SUVs, I had the Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 all-electric, with an incredible interior.  I also had the totally new Lexus RX350 SUV, one I rave about regularly, and I had the Genesis GV60 Electric SUV, and I have to put the Jeep Grand Wagoneer Obsidian in this group.  The Lexus LX600 was also pretty incredible.

Thrill Rides

As always, I had a really fun week with the Dodge Challenger Hellcat Widebody, always a thrill!  Then, in another lightning-fast car, that is in this week's newsletter, I had the Mercedes-Benz AMG EQS electric sedan that had a massive amount of acceleration.

Toyota

It was Toyota, however, that stole the show by sending me two of the new Tundras (one the hybrid version) and also the new Sequoia Capstone, a full-sized luxury SUV that is going to be a game changer if they can build enough of them.

In a year when I didn’t get the variety of vehicles I’d have liked, it was still a great year to be a car reviewer.
