Our TakeCR-V HYBRID
The 2023 Honda CR-V underwent an impressive redesign with a more rugged exterior, enhanced driving dynamics, a new hybrid powertrain and an upscale interior (particularly in the Sport Touring hybrid model. We loved its comfy seats!) Technology however still lags a bit behind the competition.
During our test drive with the CR-V Sport Touring hybrid we were impressed by it's improved and more engaging driving dynamics. This compact SUV offers a comfortable interior with spacious seating and ample cargo capacity, making it a practical and fuel efficient choice.
A new driver coaching Apple CarPlay app also makes the CR-V a great choice for teens.
RAV4 HYBRID
The RAV4 hybrid shares its technology and driver assistance features with the gas-only version. The hybrid lineup, which comes standard with all-wheel drive, is the more fuel efficient choice.
The RAV4 hybrid was the second best-selling hybrid in Toyota's lineup in the first quarter of 2023, behind the Toyota Highlander Hybrid.
Toyota is also a pioneer when it comes to hybrid powertrains and The Car Pro Jerry Reynolds considers them the best in the industry with proven reliability. Reynolds says Toyota's hybrid batteries will generally go 225,000 miles or more.
What's NewCR-V Hybrid
The CR-V enters its 6th-generation with a new advanced hybrid powertrain, more capability and space. Honda says every 2023 CR-V benefits from extensive improvements to the body, chassis and powertrain, safety technology, and overall driving refinement.
There are two hybrid grades for 2023 (a third, entry level hybrid Sport-L model joins lineup for 2024.)
Hybrids feature a fourth-generation hybrid system with a new Sport mode. With 247 lb.-ft of torque they are the most powerful CR-Vs ever. Off-roading updates include new Hill Descent Control. In the interior, new front Body Stabilizing Seats are designed to reduce fatigue.
Safety upgrades include new driver and passenger airbags first introduced on the new Civic. Rear Seatbelt Reminder and Rear Seat Reminder are also new standard additions and as is a Driver Attention Monitor.
For families with teenage drivers, the CR-V offers an excellent option. Honda has recently introduced the Honda Driver Coaching iPhone app, designed to enhance the skills of new drivers and promote safe driving practices. This app is compatible with CR-V models from the 2020 model year equipped with Apple CarPlay.
RAV4 Hybrid
New for 2023, the RAV4 Hybrid lineup adds a Woodlands Edition. It's the first hybrid off-road special edition SUV for the brand. It features a TRD-tuned suspension and standard Falken WILDPEAK AT tires.
Also new for 2023, all RAV4 hybrid and gasoline models features the new and fantastic Toyota Audio Multimedia system along with upgraded multimedia touchscreens and multi-information driver displays available depending on trim.
Hybrid XSE and Hybrid Limited feature a standard 10.5-inch Multimedia display. A 12.3-inch Multi-Information Display is standard on Hybrid Limited and optional on Hybrid XSE.
