Dear CarPro Family,

Welcome to a slightly abbreviated edition of our newsletter.  We’ve put out a lot of content in the past six weeks or so, many special reports to try to help our subscribers, and frankly, the staff was tired.  So, instead of working on a newsletter over this past Memorial Day weekend, we enjoyed a few days of rest.  We’ll be back next week with all the regular features you are used to.

Still, there is a good amount of info today for you like the breaking news that Ford has told its Dealers to hit the brakes on electric vehicle plans after a series of meetings with Dealers across the country.  Nobody knows what is next, but I share some thoughts on this belowAfter a string of successes, the UAW suffered a defeat in Alabama as it tried to organize a Mercedes plant there.  Shocker alert:  J.D. Power did a study and found electric car consideration is dropping.  We even have our video of the week for you!

Also below, I hope you’ll share the information with any young folks you may know.  The 100 Deadly Days of Summer starts now, a time when young drivers are at risk of dying in car accidents and the numbers are staggering.  I also give you my teen driver contract that I’ve talked about for yearsMost schools are out for the summer, so I give you tips on watching out for kiddos.

If you missed my interview last Saturday with David Mills, the father of Kailee Mills who died when she undid her seatbelt for a split second, please take a moment and listen to the words of a father who lost a childThen share it with any young people in your family or in your circle of friends.

In reviews this week, I have two very different vehicles that were built in very different parts of the world, one in China and one in Italy.  I have the stunning all-new 2024 Lincoln Nautilus Black Label SUV and it’s a beauty.  I also had the 2024 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, a hot and fast sedan with 505 horses under the hood. Our Amy Plemons has for you the all-new 2024 Toyota Tacoma Limited i-FORCE MAX hybrid.

In advice today, I wrote about whether or not you should trade your car in or sell it yourself and the pros and cons of each.

We have another True Story from a Former Car Dealer below.  This is a series of 40 stories written by me.  Some are really funny, some are incredibly sad.  I really peel back the curtain on my career highs and lows in the car business, and also share a lot of personal information.  I hope you’ll take a minute and read these each week, I truly believe you’ll enjoy them. #22 is titled:  Golf.  As you’ll read, I really hate golf, and I hated it even more after it cost me a LOT of money!

Plus, lots of other information you will enjoy, including our videos of the week we talk about on the air all the time!  If you have never been to our FAQ page, take a minute and peruse the categories, something there will interest you for sure.

You’ll find the following stories and more info as you scroll down the newsletter:

We so appreciate all of you who take this newsletter and listen to the show every week.  We know that without you, there is no CarPro Radio Show.  So always let us know when we can help you. If you have not been there lately, take a look at our website, www.carpro.com, it changes all the time!

Have a terrific week.  See you on the radio!

Ford to Dealers: Pause Your EV Plans

ford-lightning-2022-photo-jerry

In a memo to Ford dealers across America, Ford Motor Company sent a message to dealers last week to “pause their actions” when it comes to Model-e plans.  Model-e is the division of Ford that electric vehicles fall under.  A Ford dealer that is not  part of the Car Pro Show shared the memo with me, and in turn I'll share part of it with you, along with my thoughts.

  My Interview With David Mills

Last weekend, I welcomed special guest David Mills on the show. David is the father of the late Kailee Mills, who died in a car crash in the fall of 2017 when she undid her seat belt for a split second.  She was only 16 years old. Her parents David and Wendy started the Kailee Mills Foundation, a nonprofit that's doing AMAZING work to spread the message that seat belts save lives. I spoke to David about the tragic loss of his daughter and the mission of the foundation.

True Stories From A Former Car Dealer

Win-a-Car-Golf-3-1-e1529338329787A few years ago, I started writing a series of True Stories From A Former Car Dealer.  Over 40 weeks, I wrote about experiences I had from my days as a dealership owner.  Some will make you laugh, others will make you cry.  The reaction was beyond my wildest expectations.

For our new subscribers, and for those of you who may have missed one or perhaps simply forgotten the details, we’ll bring these to you in the order they were written.

In this episode, I tell you how much I hate golf.  Yes, it’s true.  I’ve sucked at it my whole life and I’m sure if I tried to play today, I’d still suck.  I sponsored a lot of hole-in-one contests when I owned dealerships and people loved them, but it got expensive to buy the insurance, so I quit buying it.  Any guesses what happened after that?

  Sell Your Car Through GiveMeTheVin!

givemethevinlogoAs I say on the air, a car is only worth what someone is willing to write a check for, and KBB doesn't write checks. I have set up an affiliation with an online car buying service called Give MeTheVIN.com that DOES write checks - and you'll get a firm offer in under two minutes.

The process is simple:  Put your vehicle info in a www.GiveMeTheVIN.com/CarPro. That alerts them you are a listener of mine.

CarPro Radio Show host Jerry Reynolds can count the number of products he's endorsed on one hand. He's had many opportunities, but after much due diligence, he usually ends up saying no.

Jerry won’t recommend a product or service unless he's tried it himself and feels good about recommending it.

    Videos of the Week

Nothing should surprise me anymore, but a 27-year-old woman in Florida takes a Honda Civic from a dealership for a test drive.  The only problem is she doesn’t bring it back.  The police spot the car, the chase is on reaching speeds of 90 miles per hour, and I can’t count how many innocent people’s cars got hit by her.  So, how does this minute and a half video end?  When she can’t go any further, she bails out of the passenger side and jumps off a bridge into a lake!  She was eventually arrested and faces a ton of charges, further proving crime doesn’t pay.

When you hear people compare muscle cars, there are two time periods at play: 1964-1970 & the 1970s. Fans love to argue about which cars were faster, so to settle that argument for the early group, here are the Top Ten fastest cars that ran the streets between 1964-1970.
