November 26, 2024

Dear Car Pro Family,

Screen Shot 2024-11-25 at 9.32.47 PMWelcome to this early Thanksgiving edition of the Car Pro Newsletter.  It is abbreviated, but still has a good amount of information for you!  Please go to the end for my special Thanksgiving message to our faithful listeners and subscribers.  Just FYI, we are LIVE ON THE AIR THIS SATURDAY to help you with your Black Friday weekend and the last day of the month car bargains!

We start with prayers for our Military, First Responders, and medical folks whom we appreciate so much and are very thankful for.

It is Black Friday weekend and our dealers are in “mega-sale mode.” You can read below why you will be able to grab a bargain, especially with high year-end incentives across the board.  These are the best we’ve seen since 2020.

If you are self-employed or own a business of any size, you can buy a new vehicle and write the entire amount off on your taxes THIS YEAR.  Yes, all of it for 2024.  If you even think you might have to write a check next April 15, 2025, time is running out. My dealers need some notice to make sure they have or can get the vehicle you want.

giftguide-2I have my review of the 2024 Subaru BRZ tS, a fun and really well-engineered sports car at a very attractive price.  Our Amy Plemons was not able to do a review this week due to almost back-to-back newsletters and the terrific Car Pro Holiday Gift Guide you’ll find below. This is the week to use Kevin’s Famous Thanksgiving Recipes, especially the make-ahead mashed potatoes.

We also tell you how to safely transport your holiday food, and we have the finalist list for the North American Car, Truck, and Utility awards…this is the big one!  I give you my predicted winners in each category.  We also have tips for parking at the mall if you are venturing out on Black Friday.  We also have some more terrific tips for you from Kim Komando.

Plus, a TON of other information and news you will enjoy, including my video of the week we talk about on the air all the time!  If you have never been to our FAQ page, take a minute and peruse the categories, something there will interest you for sure:

We so appreciate all of you who take this newsletter and listen to the show every week.  We know that without you, there is no Car Pro Radio Show.  So always let us know when we can help you. If you have not been there lately, take a look at our website, www.carpro.com, it changes all the time!

Have a terrific week.  See you on the radio!

Thanksgiving Prayer For Our Military & First Responders

US-DEPT-DEFENSE
Photo Credit: U.S. Department of Defense (2022).

Thursday some will gather around the dinner table with family and friends to share good food, warm laughter, and the happy memories of Thanksgivings past. For many families whose loved ones serve in the Armed Forces, this year’s Thanksgiving celebration will not be complete.

A familiar voice will not be heard and a chair at the table will remain empty because they have someone far from home serving our country.  Thursday, members of the Armed Forces will gather in mess halls or tents across the globe as friends and comrades to enjoy the tradition of this special day.  Pray for those on the front lines, for safety and protection.

So, as those of us who are blessed to be with our families celebrate and give thanks, let us remember in our prayers the homes that have an empty chair at the table and also offer a special prayer of thanksgiving and ask God’s blessings for the brave men and women of our Armed Forces, whose service and sacrifice will, we further pray, make the world a better and safer place. A very special prayer dear God, for those homes that have an empty chair that will forever remain vacant and for those servicemen and women who have come back to us, may their sacrifice not have been in vain.

While we enjoy our families and some good food, our police, firefighters, and paramedics are on call in case one of us needs assistance, which no doubt many people will.  These heroes will likely eat their Thanksgiving dinner late if at all and they will be missed by their families.

Add to this, people who are drinking and driving, adding another element to the dangers they face on a daily basis, so please, keep them all in your thoughts and prayers.

Finally, remember, too, medical personnel on call at hospitals and emergency clinics.  Health issues do not stop for holidays.

prayer-1

We Pray and ask the Lord…for the protection of our police and firefighters in our state.  Pray for peace, protection and strength in their homes and marriages. (Psalms 91:1-16)

We Pray and ask the Lord…for angelic protection as they are the first responders in any crisis situation.

We Pray and ask the Lord…for their emotional well being: The mental, physical and emotional aspects are always on high alert. There is a combination of stress and anxiety always at work which can impact the mind in many ways.  Divorce can be a result and forms of escapism which are counter-productive to the mind, body, spirit and soul.

We Pray and ask the Lord…for our police and firefighters to make choices in spontaneous situations that continually arise that are filled with wisdom that will bring forth the greatest good. Wisdom is the right use and exercise of knowledge, quickness of intellect, readiness of apprehension, and dexterity in execution.

We Pray and ask the Lord… they would have compassion for the people they serve. Our police and firefighters are dealing with lives and souls that will face God some day. May they have a heart like Jesus Christ and feel what an individual may be going through at the time, and respond accordingly.

We Pray and ask the Lord…that law enforcement and firefighter personnel would come to know the Lord Jesus Christ as savior.  This is the greatest need of all as salvation is the pathway to resolve all individual problems that may arise.

We Pray and ask the Lord…they would exhibit integrity, honesty and dedication. A virtuous individual is to be highly regarded and respected. Temptations can present situations for any person to fail at some time. May they have spiritual fortitude and strength to be honest, dedicated and individuals of integrity.

prayer-2

We Pray and ask the Lord…for grace for the families of our military, and ask the Lord to release his blessings, peace and grace while the troops are serving abroad.   Pray for provisions to be met, for health safety and faithfulness in the homes.

We Pray and ask the Lord…that our security will remain strong.  We ask the Lord to uncover any plan to release information that would jeopardize our national security, or the security of our troops, and law enforcement personnel.

We Pray and ask the Lord…for wisdom and protection in the engagement of troops around the world where our men and women are deployed.

We Pray and ask the Lord…to expose and thwart every attempt of the Al Qaida and any terrorist organization or plot to bomb our troops in Iraq or to release any type of bomb here on US soil or on any waterway.  We ask angelic hosts to protect schools, churches, shopping malls, coffee shops, stadiums and any place where people meet.

We Pray and ask the Lord…for the Generals and leaders of our military, that they will be filled with godly wisdom and strategies for waging war whenever necessary.  (1 Chronicles 12:32)

We Pray and ask the Lord…to reveal and place the right information into their hands of our Homeland Security, for the thwarting of any Muslim terrorist agenda or separatist group anywhere in America.  We ask the Lord to dispatch angels around the nuclear power plants and all around these United States.

We Pray and ask the Lord…for a great revival to break out among our troops.  We ask the Lord to pour out His Holy Spirit with powerful miracles signs and wonders in our military. They will truly become Joel’s army! (Joel 2:28-32)

Huge Black Friday Sales & Cyber Monday

black-fridayWhile shopping on Black Friday can be a stressful, tiring, and a downright frightening thing to do at the mall, new vehicle consumers will find some great deals on one of the biggest purchases they'll ever make: a new car.

This weekend, we have significant sale days back-to-back:  Black Friday, the last weekend of November, and then Cyber Monday which is ALSO the last day of the Dealer's month.

I recall from my days owning dealerships, we geared up for Black Friday and the weekend after.  In the car business, when a lot of people are off work, you tend to be really busy.  We also saw that while one spouse was at the mall, the other might be shopping for a car, trying to narrow down their choices and looking at numbers.

The incentives for November are ending on Monday, December 2nd and as I predicted, we saw significant increases from all automakers.  There is no doubt, the year-end push is ON.

Dealerships typically offer huge discounts on Black Friday, even if it is on a vehicle that is coming in.  It's an atypical day to purchase a car since consumers think of retail shopping but buying a new vehicle on Black Friday can often lead to nice savings.  Many dealers do one-day only pricing on this Friday and some start early, around 7 AM.

Most dealer lots are full right now, with lots of vehicles on the way, but be aware that if you have a specific vehicle you are looking for, communicate with a Car Pro friend at one of our Certified dealerships at my website, just click CERTIFIED CAR PROS.  The exact vehicle you are looking for could be on a convoy truck headed there right now.

BOTTOM LINE:  Without a doubt, this is the best time to buy since before Covid started, and I sincerely mean that.

Kim Komando Special Report: TV Streaming Services

I'm a big fan of consumer-technology advice guru Kim Komando. She also has her own radio show and we're on many of the sase radio stations across America. She does for her listeners and newsletter subscribers exactly what I endeavor to do: Give you useful information to keep you up to date on the latest in cars, only she does it with technology and there is nobody who does it better.

  • Your car is spying on you: The average new car is packed with approximately 1,400 microchips collecting a ton of data on you. Plug in your car’s VIN here to see what your manufacturer knows. Click Get the Report to see details like your name, address and maybe even recordings of your voice.
  • A robot dog is patrolling Trump’s Mar-a-Lago: “Spot” is unarmed and has a “Do not pet” sign on each leg. The Secret Service isn’t saying what it’s being used for, but with cameras, thermal sensors and a $75,000 price tag, surveillance to protect the President-elect is obvious — he needs it.
  • Next time you need a meeting or reminder on the cal: Tell Siri or Google Assistant what your plan is, along with a date and time. For example, say, “Hey, Siri, set up a lunch meeting with Bob tomorrow at 1 p.m.” or “OK, Google, remind me to thaw the steaks tomorrow at 8 a.m.” Nice.
  • Be an insider: TestFlight is Apple’s tool for anyone who wants to try apps before they hit the App Store. It’s perfect for beta testers who love being the first to explore new features, whether you’re on an iPhone, iPad or Mac, or using an Apple TV or even the Vision Pro.
  • Tragic accident: Four people died after their Tesla Model Y crashed into a pillar and burst into flames. A bystander smashed a window open, saving a fifth passenger. So sad. If you have a Tesla, watch this video so you know how to open the doors when there’s no power.
  • Deals without tracking: Download your grocery store’s app for the best possible prices. No one says you have to use your real email address and phone number if you’re not into the data collection. Make a burner account!

 Closing Message From Jerry Reynolds

thank you

To educate yourself for the feeling of gratitude means to take nothing for granted, but to always seek out and value the kind that will stand behind the action. Nothing that is done for you is a matter of course. Everything originates in a will for the good, which is directed at you. Train yourself never to put off the word or action for the expression of gratitude.” - Albert Schweitzer

The year of 2024 is grinding to an end. This is a year that saw some normalcy finally return to the car biz.  No chip shortages, no strikes, no dealer computer hacks, no Covid closing showrooms, and in most cases the return of big incentives, big discounts, and full dealer lots. 2024 changed the electric vehicle landscape a lot, and it is likely to change even more in the next year. This year brought the retirement of my Trusty Sidekick Kevin McCarthy, and I welcomed Todd Chambliss to sit in the chair next to me.

If you choose to spend time with your family or friends on Thanksgiving Day to share a good meal and perhaps some football, remember that there are a lot of people who are not as fortunate.

We have troops in all parts of the world who wish they were home with their families.  There are a lot of moms and dads, and brothers and sisters, and children missing their mom or dad who are serving so that we can enjoy the freedom of living in the United States.

Crime and emergencies don’t take holidays either, so while your biggest stress of the day may be whether the turkey is too dry, out on the streets are police officers on patrol, fire fighters responding to calls, and paramedics and medical personnel standing by in case we need them.  Hospitals don’t close, either.  If you know anyone in the medical field, let them know America is thankful for them. Please let them know how much we appreciate each and every one of them.

If you are enjoying your Thanksgiving, think of those I mentioned and those I forgot to mention.  Take a minute to look around and count your blessings, I bet they are more abundant than you realize. Call a friend you have been meaning to call.  Take a minute and check on an elderly neighbor.  Donate to a worthy cause.  Mend a rift you had with a family member, friend, or co-worker.  Tomorrow is not guaranteed as we learned from the loss of Mike Shaw last week.

The past few years has taught us that life is precious and you must seize every opportunity to love those around you.  Make sure that if you lost a loved one today, you would have no regrets.

I am thankful for our listeners, you are the reason the Car Pro Show exists.  I want to thank our 66 radio station affiliates for believing in what we do and airing the show.  I would like to thank the entire staff of the Car Pro Show.  There are many behind the scenes whom you don’t know exist, but they do a great job.

I am thankful, too, for our Dealer affiliates who strive to make what I say on the air a reality for our listeners.

This year, as every year in the past, I have tried to give you an escape to what is going on around us, even if it is just for five hours each week on your radio.

Please remember, don’t drink and drive, and don’t text and drive.

Happy Thanksgiving!
