2024-subaru-crosstrek-wilderness-hero-2 (1)April 26, 2024

Dear CarPro Family,

Well, we find ourselves coming right up on the end of the month of April.  The moon and the stars are lined up for you to get yourself a terrific deal on that dream vehicle you’ve been thinking of.  I give you more details below on this topic and reasons why the time is right!

Also today, I have the top 25 best-sellers last month by model, including trucks, cars, and of course SUVs.  Also, a list of the top 10 most expensive cars sold at Mecum Houston a few weeks ago, and another list of the SUVs that have the most cargo area in case that is a big consideration for you.

We are giving away a beautiful 2024 Chevy Corvette and $10,000 in cash to pay tax, title, and license to some lucky listener!  Best of all, this wonderful charity helps our Veterans find healing and a sense of gratitude and community, which they so deserve.  Details are below on how to buy chances to win for just $10.

I find it kind of sad that General Motors is moving its downtown Detroit headquarters and I have all the info and some thoughts for you below.  Vehicle prices fell again last month, some good news there!  Take a look at the 60th Anniversary very Limited Edition Mustang below, and if you want one, reach out to a CarPro Dealer quickly, these won’t last long.  I have details for you on the 2025 Kia K5 that starts under $26,000 and let me tell you, it’s a beauty!  The 2025 Camry comes only as a hybrid AND with a lower price!  The UAW has finally broken through to workers in one of the many auto plants in the South.  Chattanooga VW workers vote to join, details below.

In my review this week, I have one of my favorites, the 2024 Subaru CrossTrek Wilderness SUV. Our Amy Plemons is on assignment at a Texas Auto Writers Association event, but her excellent reviews will commence again next week, not to worry.

In advice today, I talk about understanding pre-paid leases, something I have done myself 3 times in the more recent past.

We have another True Story from a Former Car Dealer below.  This is a series of 40 stories written by me.  Some are really funny, some are incredibly sad.  I really peel back the curtain on my career highs and lows in the car business, and also share a lot of personal information.  I hope you’ll take a minute and read these each week, I truly believe you’ll enjoy them. #17 is titled:  The Sign.  I had to really put my thinking cap on to figure out how to erect a huge programmable sign at the dealership where I was the General Manager, while making Ford Motor Company AND the City of Dallas happy, and it was no easy feat.

You’ll find the following stories and more info as you scroll down the newsletter:

content-rundown-april-26plus-contents-april-26

Plus, lots of other information you will enjoy!  If you have never been to our FAQ page, take a minute and peruse the categories, something there will interest you for sure.

We so appreciate all of you who take this newsletter and listen to the show every week.  We know that without you, there is no CarPro Radio Show.  So always let us know when we can help you. If you have not been there lately, take a look at our website, www.carpro.com, it changes all the time!

Have a terrific week.  See you on the radio!

It's The End Of The Month and Why That Matters

last-weekend-deals-canvapro-jan-26Here we are again!  Dealers need to sell a lot of cars, trucks, and SUVs by next Tuesday night, especially since they have more inventory than they need in most cases.  The factory incentives are also the best they have been in forever.  Although rates remain high on many items, there is a lot of money to be lent on cars at under 2%, even for those without perfect credit.

April is a hard month for car dealers anyway, the month is short and people paying taxes this month is a distraction and deterrent to buying, especially the first half of the month.  They’ll have until Tuesday the 30th to report sales, and that is when the big current incentives end, too.  Discounts are also big for Car Pro Show listeners, and trade-in values remain really high.

Use my process, it works.  Find a dealer from here:

Sad Day: GM Moving Detroit World Headquarters in 2025

GM-world-hq-rencen-detroit-is-moving-credit-gmI find the news a bit sad.  When I was the Ford National Dealer Council Chairman, I spent over 100 nights per year in Detroit.  The Renaissance Center, or the RenCen as the locals called it, was a mainstay of the Downtown area, which at that time I was told to never go to after dark.  Henry Ford II was the brainchild behind the complex with a vision of revitalizing Detroit.  I was in the building a number of times and it was spectacular, albeit scattered and hard to maneuver around.

When CEO Mary Barra took over 10 years ago, she said she would “break down the silos” referring to the physical separation in GM employees at the Renaissance Center towers.  Now, she is making good on that promise, abandoning the complex GM bought where rival Ford was located.  The 73-story main tower also houses a Marriott Hotel.

So history will be left behind and General Motors will relocate its global headquarters to Hudson’s Detroit in 2025, becoming, the anchor tenant.

True Stories From A Former Car Dealer

car-dealership-profit-shutterstock_732294904 (1)A few years ago, I started writing a series of True Stories From A Former Car Dealer.  Over 40 weeks, I wrote about experiences I had from my days as a dealership owner.  Some will make you laugh, others will make you cry.  The reaction was beyond my wildest expectations.

For our new subscribers, and for those of you who may have missed one or perhaps simply forgotten the details, we’ll bring these to you in the order they were written.

In this episode, I tell you about a time in the 1980s.  The dealership I ran (same one as in story #16) had a weird layout to it, and I decided what we needed was a big programmable sign so we could change the messages.  The freeway was a jammed parking lot most of the day.  In this bizarre story, I tell you how I got around Ford rules AND City of Dallas regulations.  It’s quite a tale.

  Sell Your Car Through GiveMeTheVin!

givemethevinlogoAs I say on the air, a car is only worth what someone is willing to write a check for, and KBB doesn't write checks. I have set up an affiliation with an online car buying service called Give MeTheVIN.com that DOES write checks - and you'll get a firm offer in under two minutes.

The process is simple:  Put your vehicle info in a www.GiveMeTheVIN.com/CarPro. That alerts them you are a listener of mine.

    Videos of the Week

jerry-yt-graphic-april-25Have you ever seen the Trunk Monkey commercials for Suburban Motors of Sandy, Oregon. The commercials began airing in 2003 and put this dealership on the map worldwide.  I only wish I had thought of it.  This is a compilation of them all, the video reel is about 10 minutes long.  Watch as many as you wish, but once you start, beware…you probably can’t stop.

kevin-yt-graphic-april-25

I was surfing around on YouTube a couple of nights ago and this video caught my eye. It’s amazing color-restored film footage of New York City at the end of the 1800s. I watched it…and then watched it again…and then watched it again. I bet you’ll find it captivating, too. New York, New York ~
