August 2, 2024
We turned the page yesterday to the 8th month of the year, and for all of us in Texas, typically the hottest month of the year. Wherever you live, I hope the weather is agreeable to you. We have lots of good info for you today, so scroll through to the bottom to make sure you don’t miss something that might be useful to you, and as always, feel free to forward the email to anyone who might be helped by it.
We start today with the top 20 best-selling SUVs of all sizes in the first half of 2024. It was a huge reveal last Thursday when we got details on the most powerful Corvette ever, the 1,064-horse ZR1, and we have all the info for you below, including a review of it by our friend Joe Raiti. In a comprehensive study, people are turning to older used cars to try to save some money in these inflationary times we are in.
We also have the J.D. Power APEAL study, one of my favorites of the year. As predicted, Toyota is replacing over 100,000 engines in the Tundra and Lexus LX, good for them! That is putting the customer first. I have details of the refreshed 2025 Honda Odyssey minivan, the Lexus ES 350 Black Line returns for 2025, and OMG you’ve got to check out the Cadillac Sollei convertible concept car. Join me in hoping this one comes to market.
Don’t miss Kim Komando’s very useful Tips of the Week. She had a lot of really great ones this week, and as always, I encourage you to subscribe to her terrific and very useful newsletter that you’ll get seven days a week.
In advice today, I tackle the topic of understanding factory warranties. I'll do my best to simplify a complex process.
In reviews, I have the beautiful 2024 Infiniti QX55 Sensory SUV. Our Amy Plemons gives you full reviews of the 2024 Mazda MX-5 Miata Club roadster, and the 2025 Toyota Camry XLE hybrid sedan.
We have another True Story from a Former Car Dealer below. This is a series of 40 stories written by me. Today, #30 is titled: Ford Direct. This is the story of when I was Ford National Dealer Council Chairman and we set out to do something that had never been done before: a joint venture between Ford Motor Company and the Ford Dealers. It was a massive 50 million dollar undertaking but we pulled it off, probably due to a chance cocktail I had with the Ford CEO in Hawaii.
You’ll find the following stories and more info as you scroll down the newsletter:
We so appreciate all of you who take this newsletter and listen to the show every week. We know that without you, there is no Car Pro Radio Show. So always let us know when we can help you. If you have not been there lately, take a look at our website, www.carpro.com, it changes all the time!
Have a terrific week. See you on the radio!
