This week I bring you one of the most popular SUVs sold in America, the 2020 Ford Edge Titanium, which is the top-of-the-line before you get to ST, the performance version of Edge that I reviewed last year.
Starting under the hood, you’ll find a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder Ecoboost, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Together they produce 250-horses and 280-pound feet of torque. My review vehicle is front-wheel drive, but you can get it in all-wheel drive as well if you prefer.
My Star White Edge Titanium has sharp, distinct lines, with LED fog lights, very attractive 20” wheels, a rear spoiler, and dual exhaust completes the elegant and attractive exterior looks.
On the inside is a roomy but somewhat subdued interior that has good leg and headroom for five adults with a lot of cargo area in the back.
The seats are slightly bolstered and very comfortable. There is a large speedometer in the center of the gauge cluster and to both the left and right of that you can configure a lot of information to your liking from the steering wheel.
You’ll find light stitching on the door panels with an offset color in the middle. There is a nice console with a round shift knob, two lit cup holders, the electronic emergency brake, parking sensors, automatic parallel parking, and thankfully, a switch to turn off the start/stop system.
Forward from the shift knob is a covered storage area with a built-in phone charger.
Above that is the 8” SYNC 3 infotainment system that is really easy to operate by touch. There you control audio, climate, Bluetooth, navigation system, apps, and settings.
You can also operate Apple Carplay and Android auto, 4G Wi-Fi hotspot, and Travelink for real-time traffic, fuel prices, weather, movie listings, sports scores, and even ski conditions.
The Edge Titanium comes well equipped with standard features like leather seats, rearview camera with a washer, 12-speaker B&O sound, power hands-free tailgate, blind spot warning, lane keep assist, 10-way power seats, and remote start.
Back seat leg and head room are good, and you can lower the back seats from the rear of the Edge with the push of a button, but they have to be raised manually. Rear occupants have air vents and USB ports.
This particular Edge has the 301A package for $4,150 and includes evasive steering assist, voice activated touch screen, adaptive cruise control, heated rear seats, cooled front seats, and a huge panoramic vista roof.
Edge Titanium is a very comfortable SUV for 5 passengers, it has a lot of cargo room in the rear, and is very quiet inside. Acceleration from the 2-liter is surprisingly good and should be plenty even for those of us with a heavy right foot.
Total sticker price on my tester is $45,685 and Ford continues to keep the incentives very aggressive on this vehicle. Fuel economy is very good for an SUV at 21 city, 29 highway, and 24 overall.
Overall, this is a very nice 5-passenger SUV, reliability through the years has been extremely good, and after incentives, it is one of the better values out there.
