Hello, stick shift fans! I know you're out there and this one's for you! This week I bring you the exclusively-manual 2025 Honda Civic Si. I last reviewed the Si when it was all-new for 2022. For 2025, the entire Civic lineup has been significantly updated with design tweaks, new Google Built-in and new hybrid options (check out my review of the new 2025 Civic Sport Touring Hybrid here.). Additionally, the Si gains enhanced ride comfort and heated front seats..
Exterior
If you read my recent Sport Touring Hybrid review, you know I love the looks of the updated 2025 Civic. A new Urban Gray Pearl hue joins the Si color palette for 2025 and looks great with redesigned matte black V-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels.
For 2025, the Si features a new aggressive front end, a new hex-pattern grille and darker taillights. The Si is more aerodynamic than other Civic sedans, featuring a front spoiler hidden under the vehicle and a gloss black rear spoiler that add downforce to improve high speed stability.
Other sporty exterior design features include black side heated and power mirrors, LED daytime running lights and dual chrome exhaust finishers.
Powertrain
The Si is geared for driver enthusiasts with its 200-horsepower 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that's mated to a short-throw 6-speed manual gearbox with enhanced-for-2025 rev-matching. The powertrain delivers 192 pound-feet of torque. Other performance features include a limited slip differential for confident cornering. The Si's larger brakes are excellent.
Interior
The Si's driver-focused interior gets sporty red and black-patterned cloth seats along with red contrast stitching throughout the cabin. There's quite a bit of plastic in here, which tends to show scuffs easily, but I like the red cloth on the door panels and the substantial door handles.
Unique honeycomb dash trim gets the red accent treatment, too, as do Si-logo'd front seats. Si-exclusive body stabilizing Front Sport Seats with built-in head restraints and prominent bolstering are newly heated. They're comfortable but don't have power adjustments.
Other features include a bright and easy-to-read 10.2-inch digital driver display, sport pedals, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a leather-wrapped 6-speed gear shifter. New for 2025, the Si adds a new LED shift indicator light.
A 9-inch touchscreen features really great Google-based navigation. The multimedia system is compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with new Google Built-In and Alexa. I absolutely LOVE Google Assistant, this is a huge highlight for me. I asked it when the Cowboys played their next game, and it told me within seconds. Of course, it can handle basic inquiries like what's the weather, too.
HD Radio and a wifi hotspot are also included. A 12-speaker Premium Bose sound system sounds awesome, too, though I do find the volume button to be too small.
Large dials on the center stack control the climate. A minimalist slim center console features new USB-C ports, a sliding armrest, the gear shifter, drive mode controls , electronic park brake and two cupholders.
The red-patterned seats don't extend to the 60/40 split rear back seat which is pretty basic. Leg-room is okay but stadium seating really cuts into head room. Cloth rear seat backs are a nice surprise. The drop-down center console reveals beverage holders. There are no A/C vents.
Cargo space is what you'd expect for a small sedan.
Other standard Si equipment includes push-button start, power moonroof, and a black headliner.
Ride and Drive
The Si puts the fun in everyday driving with its brisk acceleration, lively handling and engaging ride. Honda also says a stiffer, more rigid structure along with sport-tuned suspension improvements enhance the ride for 2025. The 6-speed rev-matching transmission feels great, especially in Sport mode which improves throttle response. This model is equipped with available high-performance summer tires (HPT) that maximize grip and handling. They are a $300 option (they were $100 bucks cheaper in 2022.) As far as cabin noise, it's noisier than the new hybrid models which feature standard Active Noise Control.
Fuel Economy
The Si HPT delivers 27 city/37 highway/31 combined. For comparison, the new Civic Sport Touring Hybrid - the heaviest trim in the lineup - nets 50 city/47 highway/49 combined.
Safety
Honda Sensing is nicely enhanced for 2025. The upgraded Si includes increased system visibility for motorcycles and bicycles for the Collision Mitigation Braking System with Pedestrian Detection, and an enhanced Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keeping Assist System.
Other standard Sensing features include Forward Collision Warning, Road Departure Mitigation incorporating Lane Departure Warning, and Traffic Sign Recognition. All Si's are also equipped with Blind Spot information system with Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
Other standard features on the Civic lineup include a multi-view angle camera, rear seat reminder and driver attention monitor.
What You'll Pay
Price-wise this Si HPT comes in at $31,800 as equipped with the premium paint ($455). This is roughly $3,000 higher than the one I reviewed in 2022. So it's not quite as affordable, but all the 2025 updates justify the increase in my book.
