This is a follow-up review of sorts with Amy Plemons' recent review of the 2025 Audi Q6 e-tron all-electric SUV. This week, I’ve got the stepped-up performance version of the 2025 Audi Q6, called the SQ6. So, if you are interested in an all-electric midsized SUV, you can make a good decision about which Audi EV best fits you and your budget.
Exterior
I’ll tell you, this is a good-looking SUV, especially in Magnet Gray. The grill is solid like most EVs, although you know it is an Audi at a glance. LED lighting looks great with the headlights being low with the daytime running lights sitting above them.
Speaking of the lights, the SQ6 review vehicle I have has the Dynamic Interaction Lights. You can choose up to eight digital light signatures in the redesigned daytime running lights of the Matrix LED headlights and in the digital OLED rear lights so you can customize the appearance.
This is super cool and very Jetson-esque. I also love the 21” aero-design wheels, the Audi signature wheel arches and flared rear quarter panels, sleek lines, and it has a rear spoiler to complete a very attractive appeal.
Powertrain
Under the hood is a nice Frunk (front trunk) with storage, but powering this red-hot SUV is a dual motor system, making it a famous Quattro all-wheel drive. It has a 100-kWh battery pack that has a peak charging rate of 270 kW, which Audi says can take the battery from 10 percent to 80 percent in 21 minutes with a DC fast charger, which is terrific. Horsepower is rated at 483-horsepower, but a push of the boost button unleashes an incredible 510-horses for short spurts. 0-to-60 time is a mere 4.1 seconds when you use the launch mode/boost and it will get you to 143-miles per hour before it shuts off electronically.
Interior
Moving to the interior, it’s all Audi, which has made a name for itself over the years for greatness inside. None of the stark, bland, plain interiors a lot of SUVs have. No sirree, this is pure luxury.
The SQ’s front seats are a little more bolstered than the one Amy had, and they are Nappa quilted leather done in Arras Red. They are power, heated, and will massage you, they have lumbar supports, a slide-out thigh support, but they are not cooled, which I found to be a little surprising.
As you hit the power button, a very colorful and configurable 11.9” gauge cluster comes alive. It gives you a ton of information, everything you could want to know and it is easy to read, including speed and most importantly, range of the electric battery.
The command center of the SQ6 sits right in the middle of the dash, and it is a 14.5” touchscreen called MMI, multi-media interface that operates the augmented-reality navigation system, Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system with speakers in the headrests, voice commands, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Sirius XM, and an incredible top-view camera system.
It has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well. The voice command system is incredible. It features 800 functions, over 100 voice commands and understands 23 difference languages, thankfully one of them is English. There is also a ton of apps to scroll through including an Alexa interface, a charging page, settings and all the safety assistance. Although there is a lack of buttons, everything flows very well.
Just one more screen to tell you about, and that is for the front passenger seat occupants. A 10.9-inch touchscreen is to keep the front passenger occupied and entertained. Its content is blocked from the view of the driver. These folks have a lot of control, so be careful. They can change the sound system, access apps, and utilize the navigation system.
On the center console you can change the drive modes from balanced, dynamic, comfort, efficiency, or off-road. You’ll find a couple of cup holders, a phone charger, USB-C ports, the start button, the gear shift buttons, a volume knob, and you can disable the traction control.
One cool thing is a new interactive light that runs the full width of the dash, near the bottom of the windshield all the way to the front doors. Audi says there are 84 LED elements and the colors change depending on the vehicle functions. For instance, it is green for when you are charging.
Moving to the back seat, it was roomier than I expected, with good leg and headroom. Rear occupants have manual shades for the side windows, rear air vents, and heated seats. The back seat is in a 40/20/40 configuration with a fold-down armrest and the seats fold down almost flat from levers in the cargo area.
Pop the power liftgate and you’ll find 30-cubic feet of cargo with storage underneath. With the back seat folded down, cargo doubles to 60-cubic feet.
Standard Features and Options
Notable standard features include: Park Assist, a power tilt and telescoping, heated flat-bottomed steering wheel, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, power folding heated outside mirrors, a panoramic power moon roof with electric sliding cover, and much more.
My test vehicle has $9,200 in two option packages. The $6,400 Prestige Package has acoustic front door glass, the B&O sound system, a wonderful head-up display, heated rear seats, the LED lighting, interaction running lights, and the upgraded camera system. For $2,800 you get the Edition One package, which is the larger wheels and summer tires, Anthracite Audi rings, black exterior trim, darkened headlights, and puddle lamps.
Safety
Safety features abound with automated emergency braking and a driver-drowsiness monitor. It also has a lane-centering feature, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, stability control, rear cross-traffic alert, back seat monitor, and exit warning.
Ride and Drive
The SQ6 is super-fast, but it rides really well thanks to adaptive air suspension. The Quattro system gives it exceptional handling. All-in-all, the driving experience in this 5,500-pound SUV is wonderful. Much of the credit goes to the low center of gravity that you typically find with electric vehicles.
Range
Range for the battery is 275-miles according to Audi, and that’s great considering the horsepower. In regular driving, it appears it is has at least that much range. I love one-pedal driving and this Regenerative braking can be adjusted to different levels, and Auto mode uses navigation data and exterior sensors to determine how much to slow the car and when to bring it to a full stop and hold until you touch the accelerator.
I gave you the fast charger time earlier, but I always recommend you get a Level 2 charger like I have for home. You can get a full 0-to-100% charge in about 9 hours, which will work out well for most people. Here is some information on the home charger I got: I got a home electric vehicle charger →
