This week we take a look at the 2024 Range Rover Velar Dynamic SE. Rovers have a reputation for having the best all-wheel drive system in the industry, and they are known for stunning interiors, with attention to detail. Such is the case with the Velar. The 2024 model was refreshed to make it more modern.

Exterior
I find the Velar exterior to be very attractive with its 21” wheels, a new grill, LED headlights, the black roof, a spoiler in rear, and it has aerodynamic pop-out door handles.
Powertrain
Under the hood of my review vehicle sits a 3.0-liter turbocharged 6-cylinder mild hybrid that is hooked to a shiftable 8-speed automatic. Together they put out 395-horses, and 405-pound feet of torque. There is also a 2.0 gas engine available if you prefer. All Rovers are 4-wheel drive.
Interior
You open the door to a luxurious interior that really gets your attention. The 20-way, heated, cooled, and massaging power seats are inviting, the steering wheel is among the prettiest I’ve ever seen, even the door panels look great with Meridian speakers and aluminum trim. All materials are soft to the touch.
When you push the start button, a High-Definition Interactive Driver Display comes to life. It is extremely configurable and there are a lot of settings you can change. It displays the speed limit for you, too.
On the center console is a stubby gear shifter. There is also a phone charger, a storage bin, and a USB-C port.
As you look up, you see a large touchscreen that truly operates everything. There are no knobs, which I am not crazy about. I always like a knob for the sound system and climate control, but there is nothing.
From the screen, you operate the sound system, backup camera, Nav system, Bluetooth, and a lot more as you keep scrolling to the right. You’ll see slope assist, a compass that gives you altitude and coordinates, and a handy page of apps.
Back seat room is fairly limited, but the 40/20/40 back seats are heated. Rear passengers have air vents, USB AND USB-C ports, a pull-down armrest, and a power plug. One annoyance is that if you want to put the back seat down, you will need to move the front seats forward.
Cargo area is about average, and as usual with Rovers, the second-row seat does not fold flat, something they really need to work on.
Features
Notable standard features include power tailgate, panoramic moon roof, rearview camera, blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist, emergency braking, park assist, a terrific head-up display, and adaptive cruise control.
Just a couple of warnings. If you are tall, this vehicle may not work for you. I’ve hit my head a couple of times getting in. The other issue is what I consider to be an unusually small rear glass. It looks good, but limits your vision versus some other SUVs.
Ride and Drive
The Velar drives great, and the engine is smooth and quiet, and the acceleration is outstanding. There is just a little bit of a turbo lag, but it’s tolerable. It has start/stop, but can be disabled.
MPG and What You'll Pay
Fuel economy is good at 19 city and 25 highway, for a combined 21.
MSRP is $79,933 as my tester is equipped and that is not out of line for a luxury SUV by today’s standards.
There is a lot to love about the 2024 Velar, and it is extremely capable both on and off the pavement.
